Many things can go wrong with content. Many of them are internal nightmares, hidden from your audience in the depths of your Content Management System (CMS), then there are those glaring errors that are instant credibility killers. Gone are the days when print bloopers are one-liners on the Tonight Show. Companies are their content, and it better be right.

The problem is mistakes are easy to make and hard to catch. A recent favorite: On its website a lending institution referred to the Principle on its loans. While we all wish there were nothing but good principles in the lenders we work, with – its loan Principal. That old sing-song “The Principal is Your Pal” we memorized in grammar school doesn’t apply. It’s nothing spell check would catch, in fact spell check probably caused the mistake. The point? A good content editor can make the difference between credibility and your brand looking pretty stupid.
